GPS:
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. A GPS tracker uses Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) to locate the exact position of a person, vehicle, or an object on the ground. The network uses a range of satellites to find and calculate the co-ordinates, thus determining the precise location of an object. The GPS system made up of three parts: satellites, ground stations and receivers. GPA tracker finds an exact location once the satellite receiver calculates its distance from four or more satellites. How does GPS device work? The working principle of GPS is based on the mathematical principle “trilateration”. GPS is a network of about 30 satellites, the receiver measures the distance from four satellites and pinpoint the exact location of an object. Atleast it needs distance information from three satellites to exactly determine the co-ordinates. Types of GPS Tracker: GPS tracker is a device that pinpoints the exact location of a person or an object. GPS tracker contains a large amount of memory space that stores all necessary information about the location of object. GPS trackers has got three major types namely Data Loggers, Data pushers and Data pullers. Data Loggers: GPS loggers may have either a memory card slot or internal flash memory card and a USB port. It records and stores the information that can be downloaded later. Data Pushers: This type of tracking system is mainly used for asset tracking, vehicle tracking or personal tracking system. It is also called as GPS beacon. It locates the position of an object that can be instantly analyzed by the user. But the data it will store and send will be captured at regular intervals. Data Pullers: Data Pullers are also called as GPS transponders. Unlike data pushers that send the position at regular intervals, data pullers are always on and get information whenever needed. Covert GPS trackers and Vehicle OBD GPS trackers are some types of data pullers. GPS is even used by computer networks to establish a common clock among many different devices.
